Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) is a country full of natural resources and wonderful places. Its well known as the "pearl of the Indian Ocean" mainly because of its shape and its location (below India) in the Indian Ocean. Its also famous as the "Nation of Smiling people" as all the citizens in the country are very welcoming and pleasant to see as they always carry a smile on their faces. Meaning of the Sri Lankan National Flag:

The Lion and the Golden colour: The Golden Lion shows the Sinhalese ethnicity and the Golden colour represents the nation's bravery.
Certain parts of the lion also represents several other things:
Nose: Intelligence

The Four Bo Leaves: Represents the four virtues of Buddhism and its influence on the nation; Metta (Loving Kindness), Karuna (Compassion), Muditha (happiness) and Upeksha (Equanimity).

The Sword: This represents the bravery and authority of the nation

The Orange Stripe: This represents the Tamil Community

The Yellow Border: This represents people from other cultures and ethnicity.

Sri Lanka is also of the Commonwealth Countries as it was once ruled by the British in the past.

Sri Lanka consists of citizens from a number of races: Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim and Burger & burgers and from various religions: Buddhists, Hindus, Islamic and RC and Non-RC. The citizens of the nation set a very good example to the entire world on how to live in peace and harmony as one nation- like the children from one mother. This is greatly seen even by the National Flag of Sri Lanka. The two main languages spoken in Sri Lanka are Sinhalese and Tamil Languages. English is used as a 2nd Language as it is the world recognized international language.
