About the country:

Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) is a country full of natural resources and wonderful places. Its well known as the "pearl of the Indian Ocean" mainly because of its shape and its location (below India) in the Indian Ocean. Its also famous as the "Nation of Smiling people" as all the citizens in the country are very welcoming and pleasant to see as they always carry a smile on their faces. This beautiful country has been one of those countries which has attracted the attention of many foreign visitors in the past recent years. Considering the facilities and comforts available and provided by various organisations and the government, visiting this wonderful country would be such an amazing experience that you have never encountered in your lifetime. And of course, I can guarantee you ONE IMPORTANT THING; that is, if you visit this miraculous island once, it is definite that you will return back next time to visit more of these eye-caching natural beauties and man-made miracles. So, as an introductory step, lets first see the meaning of the National flag of Sri Lanka:

Meaning of the Sri Lankan National Flag:

The Lion and the Golden colour: The Golden Lion shows the Sinhalese ethnicity and the Golden colour represents the nation's bravery.
Certain parts of the lion also represents several other things:
Nose: Intelligence
Beard: Purity of Words
8 hairs on the tail: The noble Eightfold paths of Buddhism.

The Four Bo Leaves: Represents the four virtues of Buddhism and its influence on the nation; Metta (Loving Kindness), Karuna (Compassion), Muditha (happiness) and Upeksha (Equanimity).

The Sword: This represents the bravery and authority of the nation

The Orange Stripe: This represents the Tamil Community

The Green Strip: This represents the Muslim Community

The Yellow Border: This represents people from other cultures and ethnicity.

The Maroon Colour: This represents the majority of Sinhalese community.

Sri Lanka is also of the Commonwealth Countries as it was once ruled by the British in the past.

Sri Lanka consists of citizens from a number of races: Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim and Burger & burgers and from various religions: Buddhists, Hindus, Islamic and RC and Non-RC. The citizens of the nation set a very good example to the entire world on how to live in peace and harmony as one nation- like the children from one mother. This is greatly seen even by the National Flag of Sri Lanka. The two main languages spoken in Sri Lanka are Sinhalese and Tamil Languages. English is used as a 2nd Language as it is the world recognized international language.

This beautiful island may not be large in size but the beauty of it is never measurable. the great places which could be referred to as "must visited places" will be given to you very soon. So, if you visit this beautiful country, don't forget to visit these great places.
